I lived in saudi Arabia for 2 1/2 years and looking back I enjoyed my time there, it is a good place to live. There are drawbacks though, especially for women. It is against the law for a woman to drive there, so women have to take taxi's a lot. There are not a lot of jobs for ex-pat women either and the ones there are are very low paying. you dont say what city you will be in. This makes a big difference, Jeddah and Damman/Al Khobar are much better than Riyadh as they are much more open and free for foreigners. Also ask your employer about accomodations, you want to be in a compound that has other foreigners. The compounds usually ahve busses that the women can take shopping and for tea and it will be easier for her to make friends.
She should also know that most of the time when she leaves the house she should cover her hair and wear and abaya, the long black robe that you always see on tv. It sounds like a little thing but when it is over a hundred degrees it gets hot really fast. As for food in S.A. They have about everything we have except alcohol and pork products. I shopped at safeway, ate pizza hut and burger king , mcdonalds, kfc ect. You cant take a bible into the country or any religious material, or even a cross necklace. These are forbidden, Some compounds have churches though and there may be some sort of services at the embassy's.If she has any questions have her email me and I will answer any that I can for her.

You'll probably like it, but you'r ewife won't like at all, as women aren't equal to men in saudi-arabia, they can't even travel to the country without a man....

If you could live your life as a 'twisted lemon' than only you go and have the 'midas touch' and weep later for the years gone by ! cheers.
