I was awarded the Federal Pell Grant, I was awarded $3,900.00 However, I wasn't able to attend Coconino Comm. College. because I wasn't offered a dormitory room at nearby NAU. They're not guaranteed to CCC Students. but we are able to get them. I was thinking that, maybe I would be able to get a room, by January. I'm still planning on becoming a full-time student next semester, but my question is, Will I be able to use that Grant until next semester, and will they take some of it, off my awards for financial aid.

Contact the financial aid office at Coconino IMMEDIATELY. Also, contact the registrar's office. Make sure that the person you are talking to is a regular employee (not a student) and get that person's name--full name.

At the community college where I work, a student would need to withdraw from the university before the second week to receive a 100% refund. If they do not withdraw, they owe the full tuition.

If they are awarded financial aid, but do not need it for a semester, they can use it in the next semester. Generally, the amount you are eligible for is pro-rated for the semester.

Try to get the information you are looking for in writing. I would hate to see you lose your financial aid eligibility due to someone giving you mis-information.

Usually the award is calculated by semster or by year. Whichever is it is only good for that time frame. You do not get to roll it over to another. If you actually received a check and cashed it, you will be on the hook to repay. They do monitor whether you completed the units you said you were going to. Failing, dropping or not attending diminishes the amount of $ you should have received. Any overpayment or deductions will come out of your next disbursement, or can result in no disbursement of $ at all, or you can be sent to collections and possibly have it take from any tax returns if you had not paid it back already. If you did not recieve a check, the school probably could not verify your enrollement at the time of disbursement and your funds went back into the pot. Check with your Financial Aid Office to find out what exactly you options are for future attendance.

Get with your school's Fin Aid office. I am pretty sure you have to use it or return it, but are able to get a Pell Grant again.

If you're not in school you will have to return the grant in full before you will be allowed to sign up for any additional classes.
