If it's a small, good-natured puppy it can bring a lot of joy to the whole family. And it's good to have the baby and puppy grow up together. But be sure the puppy is well mannered and not a nipper or biter.

Most of the time when a baby and a puppy grow up together they form a real bond and seldom ever the dog will harm the child. It would be a good idea to know the disposition of its parents so you have some idea what this pup might be like. If the parents of the pup are aggressive then it might be a good idea to find another.

If you can spend time with the dog, make sure you spend time training it and exercise him everyday, then having a dog with a baby should not have problems.
First before you take the dog home, you should bring a piece of baby clothes and let it to sniff it, when you put the baby in his/her room, do not allow the dog to get in unless you invite him to come. When you hold your baby, keep some distance between your dog and the baby, he can see your baby but not allow to sniff it. About a month or so, you can start letting them to get close to each other when under superivse and soon you will have no worry with your baby safety.

The best time to get a puppy is the minute it it is ready to be taken away from it's mother.Let the puppy and kid grow up together. They will form a bond like you have never seen before.

I wouldn't have a dog near a baby period! I would wait until your child is old enough not to tease the life out of it....... teenager at least.
It is still a dog regardless of it's size and it will bite if tormented.
