Okay, sure it's immoral, but if you talk someone into killing themselves, how is anyone going to know that it was you who told the guy to jump? Sounds like it could be illegal, but you would have a great deal of articulating to do if you wanted to charge someone with assisting (verbally encouraging VS. pulling a trigger for someone).....hell, half the bands today sing lyrics with messages glorifying suicide and even murder........ It would actually be a very difficult case, mostly depending on circumstances....if the guy is already on the ledge with standing on one foot, what difference does it make for his idiot friend to yell, "JUMP" on the other hand, someone is diagnosed with terminal disease and their buddy says "here, drink all of these pills and you'll be out forever".....anyhow......DOES ANYONE REMEMBER MOM SAYING, "IF HE TOLD YOU TO JUMP OFF A CLIFF WOULD YOU DO IT" I never thought of the day where someone would be pressing charges against the other kid.....

Instigating a suicide is a crime punishable under the Penal Law because it is assisting someone to kill himself.

very hard to prove, the subject would have to already be thinking about it for someone to persuade them to do it
however, it is very immoral and extremely sick to do anything but help someone that is thinking of suicide

I believe so because you can be tied to their death and in some cases may even be charged. Like mercy angels...they are still committing a murder no matter what.
