The 5th anniversary is coming up of that most dreadful morning of 9/11/01. Where were you, and what were you doing?

I got off work at 12am, and went to eat at a restaurant. I got home at about 3am, and went to sleep a half-hour later. At like 5:46, my brother pounded on my bedroom door, waking me up. I thought there was a fire in the house or something. He yelled to me that there's a plane that crashed into one of the World Trade Towers in New York. I ran into the living room, and saw on the tv that the top floors of the north tower were on fire. Good Morning America had someone on the phone, and was asking them about the crash, when the south tower then got slammed into by another plane. Then, of course, the Pentagon got hit. Then they reported another plane that had crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. I stayed home from work that day, recording this amazing footage on my vcr. Both of the tapes i recorded are going to be soon transferred to DVD.

I remember waking up to the tv, on in the lounge room. All over Australia the news had the towers on the screen, updates etc. I got up cause of the terrible news. It was very saddening to see what was happening and highlights playing. Questions still play our mind with, why?
Innocent people, who are remembered every year.
Even to this day, its still very sad. The innocent didn't deserve to leave this world like that.

Great question,great topic.
I was at work during that morning.I had left Carlsdat N.J around 3:00 am headed back to Boston in my tractor trailer.Just as I entered Rhode Island the FM station cut the music and went to the national news to report on the plane crash. The distance from the Connecticut border to providence is only 35 miles.By the time I reached Providence it was clear we were under attack. From there on to Boston was so sureal.Instead of being on the opposite side of rush our,I was now in it trying to get to my safehaven(home) like everyone else.As I would look into the cars along side me I could see the occupants gasping and covering their mouths in disbelieve regarding the events as thy unfolded.By the time I reached the Massachusettes border the FAA shut down all flights and diverted incoming flights to Canada and elsewhere.Only 45 minutes had elapsed between CT. and Mass.
After finishing my work obligations and sharing salutations with co workers I drove to my apartment in Watertown Mass. avoiding interstate roads and Boston. One of my roomates had the day off.The others arrived home shortly after my return and we all watched the events unfold.
I love this country and the freedom for which it stands! I can only hope that your Q will bring attention to the fact that our freedom does come with a price.Yes we have an enemey who will try to bring us down, but we are to big of freedom loving/living society to see it happen.

I also have a couple of vcr tapes that I let run all day. At the time it happened, I was baking brownies for a party we were going to, I had just put another batch in the oven, when I heard it come over the tv. I had the fox news channel on, and them pictures were amazing. I just sat there, all day in amazement of what just happened. I will never forget that day.

Hi,,, early that morning, I had just arrived on the drilling rig that I was working on in the Gulf of Mexico... I went to bed in preparation of working that night,
I woke around 3 pm and was getting dressed and turned on the tv in the room. I saw the replay of what had happened and was confused,,, going to the galley for coffee, I went to one other TV room and almost everyone was watching,, I then learned all the details.. We had a meeting and they sent all of us back in that night.... I stopped in New Orleans and drank coffee that night at the Cafe du Monde, totally amazed at what had happened...

Good luck

I was at home, asleep. My husband was up and turned on the news and then came in to wake me up, saying something about the Twin Towers and a terrorist attack. It was unreal, I couldn't believe what was happening. Then we went to the three different schools our kids were attending and picked them up and brought them home. It was so scary.

i was in my 3rd grade classroom at my school and i distinctly remember some stranger calling our classroom and telling us that a bomb was going to explode under it. and so for safety measures my school had us evacuate the area and have the police come and investigate. they found nothing. and then we found out about the plane chrashes and i think shocked and horrified could describe the rest.

I was in college, in bed sleeping, when my mom called me and told me. I turned on the news to watch and skipped my first class. At school all we did for weeks was watch the news and talk about it, esp. that first day. Every apt. you passed had the news channels on watching. It was the worst day and the worst feeling. My roommate was putting her makeup on and getting ready for class. We just watched the news in horror and cried.
