It is really more like I need a way to go..I want to go back to school and get a job, but I am just stuck! I don't want to have to depend on someone for the rest of my life! You know what I mean?

YES...temporarily you can receive welfare, get job assistance, higher education thru grants...churches will assist with food and money...HUD (Housing & Urban Development) will assist with rent, HEAP (Heat & Energy Assistance Program) will help with utilities. Get on your feet and then remember to donate to the ones who helped you so that others can receive help

You can always find such people who do help. Some might assist for some vested interests and some for just helping you out for nothing. The decision lies with the single mom. What sort of donation she requires, for how long and in what way. The moot point is she is most likely to get help. It is always better to strees a bit harder and manager by herself. Dignity once lost cannot be regained. Seek help to become stronger in getting out of the slumber.

I saw a girl sitting on the corner outside of the Wal-Mart parking lot with her baby in her arms with a sign asking for help. I think it's pretty petty, I mean I am a single mom of two and I know it can be hard. That's when you go down to your Social Services building and try to get assistance. They will help you in many ways.

Are you in the U.S.? If so depending on the state you are in, there is some state or federal aid available. A lot of churches will "adopt" a family and assist with clothing, food, school supplies, etc.

Ask at your church or your children's school.

I've only heard of help in extraordinary circumstance such as a child getting really sick. Barring anything a horrible twist of fate I haven't heard of just free help.
