Wth? "pitbull aka bulldog" what is this idiot thinking? Pitbulls and bulldogs are not the same. Bull dogs are a mastiff breed and pitbulls are a terrier breed and only distantly related.
Anyways there is no such thing as a 'mean breed'. My neighbors grandmother has a chiuauah that will bite the grandkids if they try to hug her. I have a dalmation that is slightly dog agressive unless introduced properly. I have a friend that has 2 pitbulls that will more likely lick you to death than bite you. I've been attacked by 2 dobermans but I have a friend that has a doberman that is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. It's individual dogs not a breed.

It is called the abused breed. Any breed of dog can become a monster if 1. Not well trained 2. If they are abused by be beat, chained up outside and never loved. It is a sad thing that most people do not see this and will blame a breed for what they do and outlaw them instead of taking care of the human problem that causes that tragedies that happen when that kind of behavior is not stopped.

Pitbulls are more likely, genetically, to have aggression problems. Sorry to say, but it is IN them. That doesn't make them bad dogs however. It does take a strong-willed owner/trainer to properly raise them though, and this is where the problem with them lies. They require a lot of dominance, and a lot of hard training. Without this, they can have very violent tendencies. And this isn't just us imagining that pitbulls are dangerous, this is a cold hard fact: more people are attacked by pitbulls, than by any other breed out there. They have been banned in several cities already because of this fact. Not all of them are like this though, like I said, it is a genetic predisposition, but that doesn't mean they will turn out that way if they have been trained properly. Unfortunately, not enough people know how to train them properly.

One day I was walking along the beach and this (slightly pregnant looking; at least, she had enlarged teats) gorgeous black pitty came trotting up to me, tail wagging, and she just about licked me to death! I was a bit taken aback because I'd always thought the fault WAS in the breed, but this dog was lovely.... there are no "mean" breeds, only mean owners who train their dogs this way. Correct me if I'm wrong, but maybe pits etc. can be trained to be aggressive more easily than other breeds? I'm not saying it's the case with every pit as I've never owned one. This is just what I think. I'll definitely own 1 one day... they're sweet at heart!

It really depends on how you raise the dog. My GSD is the sweetest dog I've met, and I've seen Shelties that were meaner than most dogs. I would tend to think that the guardian breeds would be a little bit more likely to bite (GSDs, Rotweillers, Doberman PInchers, etc).
The smaller dogs also tend to bite, and aren't usually corrected by their owners so they think they can get away with it. Pitbulls have a tendancy to be aggressive to other dogs, but have been bred to be sweethearts to people.
It's really in how you raise and treat the dog. If tied up outside without human contact, most any dog will turn mean (if only to defend their territory).

There is no meanest breed. There is no peer reviewed data to define and support such a thing.
But there apparently are a lot of people that have 'issues' and creative imaginations.

There are no MEANEST BREED, bad behavior are mainly based on how dogs were raised. A Chihuahua could be mean and they are small, a pitbull could be very mallow and they are big and muscler.
