Honest question - I just want to take a poll. Do people really truly believe that the pharmaceutical companies are not multi-billion dollar industries, with a sick incestuous relationship with the FDA, who are some of the most powerful people in Washington? I want to know, because within the last years, my eyes have been opened, to a point. Who believes in the FDA, raise your hands! Then please, go do some dilligent study and research, and call me back.

I for one, do not believe the FDA is looking for you, however people seem to respond to 'facts' from the FDA over common sense. I have grown up taking alternative medicine and I have never had side effects. I have never been to the docor except when i nearly broke(?) my ankle.
I have read the story about apricot seeds curing cancer and at the same time, while I was doing some research, I came across a story about a man in Germany who cured 10,000 people of cancer but sometime later the government came along and arrested him. It is also know that none of the 10,000 people complained of the method he applied.
Our current state of government regulations on medicine is corrupted and the worlds view on diseases seems to be heading in the wrong direction. Many of the 'new' things we learn have already been discovered 1000's of years ago.
I am not saying modern medicine is 100% incorrect, the problem is that with the new medicine we forget old medicine. The FDA is controled by the leaders of companies that are involved in marketing and selling 'modern' medicine. These companies are more interested in profits than the health of the people and if the public was aware of whats known as 'alternative' therapies their profits would drop significantly. I remember reading somewhere that death by doctors is the third leading cause of death and that at one point it was The Leading Cause.
Here is a link on the truth of modern medicine and what the FDA promotes as the ideal 'cure'

This is a more technical site which you could view which explains some alternative therapies to the best of our abilities.

It is important to remember that as a science we understand barely anything of the world. Science keeps changing its facts and its also true that thousands of years ago people were capable of doing things and believed in things that are very much different than today but that they were still effective. The FDA does not accept this stand and so is a danger to the people.
Science has a tendancy to change some of its facts every 100 years whereas when a new medicine comes out theres is a good chance that people will find it to cause more problems and it will be taken off the market.

I agree with you whole heartedly. I did not open my eyes until recently when my dog got cancer and I started doing research on different options available. It amazes me the things that the fda has done and are doing. Even more amazing now that 2 of the appointed fda directors head large pharmaceutical companies. The drug industry is a mulit billion dollar a year industry, which heavily is relied upon by fda and other govermental agencies. Of course the government is going to cover this up. Thank you for bringing this point up. Too bad too many people rely on the fda and drug companies out of fear for their health when they are actually just hurting themselves in the long run.

I also work in health care i think the FDA is ran solely by the Pharmaceutical companies. i also think the reason we don't have a cure for Diabetes, Cancer, and Aids etc is because all these companies would be bankrupt. Pharmaceutical sales are at all time high and it is only going to get worst when the "Baby Boomers" start having health probelms, as far as the FDA having a sick relationship simply yes

I work for a pharmaceutical company and the drugs only sell if they work and do what they are suppose to. The nurses, Dr.'s, and pharmacists would not buy drugs if they didn't work. They don't buy them if they dislike the packaging. Wether or not the FDA approve tthe drugs the manufacturers cannot make their billions if the product did not work. In other words, the products being sold cannot be forced to be bought.
In regards to patent drugs - now that is a different story.

P-shaw!
At least the media is not plugging the drug companies as much as it used to. I think there's a change coming because more and more people are becoming aware of this.
I've noticed in the last six months the news occasionally warns of the dangers of a drug and gives a more natural alternative. It's sort of amazing because they used to insult one drug by plugging another and next week do the same thing in reverse.

I am in the medical field. If anyone out there still believes that the FDA is not being heavily lobbied by the drug companies and they don't have the FDA in their pockets, they are sadly mistaken. Unfortunately, there aren't too many groups out there who are truly consumer advocates. Beware! Thanks for bringing this subject up. I agree with you 100%
