There are different strains of HIV, so it depends upon the strain as well as the health of the infected individual. Generally speaking, people don't always know when they've been infected so the time between infection and death isn't always clear. I do know that there is a strain of the virus that has been known to cause death within a few weeks, however this strain is not a common one.
