So many people out there have negative persepectives on Mormonism. Personally, I don't know much about their religion, however living in Utah, I'm surrounded by them. They seem like very nice people, but I've heard some wierd things about their beliefs and their Temple ceremonies. This is a serious question so I expect serious answers.

I agree, they are some of the nicest people i know, and they are very moral and don't do drugs or drink, which I respect a lot. However, their beliefs are just way out there.

The mormons, or church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a cult. They believe that God was once a man, as was the Holy Spirit, and that the Holy Spirit physically impregnated Mary, so that's why they have no problem in refering to Jesus as God's son. They believe that Jesus attained godhood status because He led a good life on earth. There are a lot of things that the mormon missionaries don't share with new converts or people asking questions, because they will appear to be "way out there", so they wait until the person has been in the church and made substancial friendship networks before the weird stuff starts to be introduced. They have many practices in their temple which are akin to freemasonry, like the wearing of special underwear to protect them from evil forces. The mormon missionaries all wear them. Bottom line, you can be sincere, but sincerely wrong.

Some of the nicest people I have ever known are Mormons. They have great family values. However, I do not agree with many of their beliefs. I am a Christian. The Mormon faith was founded less than 200 years ago, which is very recent compared to Christianity, so I must question where this Joseph Smith got his ideas and the authority to start a new religion.

Mormons are nice people as you say. They believe they are saved through act as well as through Jesus. This is one of the fundamental reasons they are nice. A lot of the things you have heard that are negative are from a bunch of crazy Christians (Mostly baptists) which can not think for themselves.

I went to one of their Churches for a while to check it out. They are not evil but very brainwashed. The same can be said about devout Christians, Muslims, etc.

The weirdest thing they do is wear undergarments that are supposed to be some sort of protection. They wear these a lot of the time.

If you want to find out then go to their Church. Be forewarned that you will probably stay for three hours. You will learn a lot about the religion. Just let them know you are an investigator from the start and do not wish to become a member. They will be fine with that and respect your wishes. If you tell them you no longer wish to be affiliated with them they will leave you alone.

what does it matter what their beliefs are? as long as they are not hurting abusing anyone. if they are nice people, and they don't bother you, then that's all that should concern you. what they do in the privacy of their own temples, again, excluding any sort of abuse, is their business. not liking someone on the basis of their beliefs is called prejudice, not liking someone based on their beliefs which you don't understand is called prejudice and ignorance.

The Mormons are a cult. Period. Any number of arguments for them are null and void because the Bible says, there is only one way and that is Jesus. There is no other way and no other person who can lead you to God. Don't even listen to them. Its a waste of your precious time.

Mormons are Christians.

I would talk with the Lds (mormon) missionaries. They can help you learn about the church.

You can also go to lds.org and learn about them there too.
