TAKE HIM TO THE VET RIGHT NOW!
My dog just ate rat poison last week but we didn't know she did. Signs don't kick in for 2 days. My dog started coughing up blood. We should have gotten her 2 a vet sooner but we didn't know . My dog almost died! She lost more than half her blood and its a miracle she survived! Now she is on sooo much medication and she has to eat a lot of food. She isn't even allowed to get any exercise because she needs it to make more blood. TRUST ME- TAKE HER TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY!

You'll want to get him to the vet as soon as possible. If possible bring the container of rat poison so that they know what kind of poison they are dealing with.
Here is a site with a story about a dog that got into rat poison. http://www.dogworks.org/poison.htm
Hopefully some of the info there will help you. I hope your pup is ok. Best of luck to you.

Take him to a vet immediately! Rat poision is very toxic to dogs and could very easily kill him! You don't have time to wait until the vet opens in the morning, you need to take him to a 24 hour emergency vet right now. Bring the bottle or container of rat poision so the vet knows what he's dealing with. Meanwhile, there is a poision hotline for dogs. The number is 888-232-8870. It does cost $35 to use, but they will be able to give you emergency first aid instructions.
Good luck!

Vet NOW. The rat poison contains anti-coagulates that will make the dog bleed out internally. Also..no water!
I've learned from past experience. My dogs are fine now.

Read the box, it will tell you whether or not you should induce vomiting, or give your pet water or milk to drink immediately. Call a vet immediately and ask advice. There are vets on call 24 hours a day. Look in the phone book locally. Get off the computer and call the vet!

on animal planet a dog once got into poisoning and the vet just forced the dog to throw it up then they rinsed his mouth with water. Dont worry it happens all of the time, just rush him to the vet and he'll be okay.

look up vets in the phone book some have emergency numbers you can call at night.
they will need to administer charcoal before it all gets absorbed .tomorrow at normal office hours might be too late.
DO you have anything around that could induce vomiting if the vet recommends it?
