Atleast you know that you are hot tempered. I think you should not try to control your temper. Any control I feel is counterproductive. It will only modify the temper. It cannot do away with it. Better is to try and understand the temper, do not try to wish it away, be with it, do not try to criticise or justify it. Just be aware of your temper. Do not fight it. The temper is of our mind and any attempt at fightiing with your mind, the bloody devil that it is will be a losing battle. The choiceless awareness of your temper will bring about an understanding which will take you beyond the temper.

Follow the steps below -
* Stop talking or any work that you are doing
* Go to the corner of the room and sit comfortably
* Close your eyes gently
* Think of some scenery, farm, sky or sea (anything which is
blue or green will help you relax)
* Let 10 min pass by with the same thoughts
Oh! missing something? Its the hot temper you had got 10 minutes back!!!!!
Make it a practise to start your day with this exercise or whenever u feel ur temper is hot. I'm sure you'll have more control on ur temper in a month's time.

Hot temper implies you are impulsive. Reacting instantly, brings in more wrath than solutions. I had bad experience of being instinctive and people termed it "Short temper". At the end of the day, it was me who sufferred. Sometimes one has to cut an humble pie but the fact remains, you have to be patient at crucial juncture or situation.
For sometime now, I am following a principle: When faced with a situation where I am instigated to retort (with harsh words), I tell myself: "Not now. Give it a thought and then come back". To begin with it looked odd to me (impulsive people confront this sort of things). As I continued & came across several such instances, I started feeling that the principle is working. A second thought takes care of several ills and takes you out of the filth. Looks strange sometimes but self-analysis solves most problems. Afterall you have to decide on your own and analysis done with a cool mind fetches good results.
You may give it a thought, say few weeks & see.

i too use to have a hot tempt but then sat and thought about it and wondered if all thie stress and getting worked up was worth it. I mean high blood pressure always being on edge, just relax and bit your tongue even if you think that the perso is wrong so what ever let them have the glory for a minute. This doesn't mean that you are weak, you just need to not let things bother you so badly. Take a few deep breathes, and then that should give you enough time to think of the things you are about to say.

ask yourself a couple of questions
have you always been hot tempered or is it a recent affliction?
Does everything make you blow or is it certain things?
Is it with everyone or certain people?
how mad do you actaully get? are you verbally mad? do you feel violent? does it feel uncontrolable?
If you just seem to blow with nothing behind it. try some herbal/home remidies (not sure how to spell that lol), yoga, etc...
if you can't control yourself, and you don't like the way you are seek professional help. There might be some real reson why, and subconsiously you might not know why.
Try to find your balance, good luck

Try the homopathic person's remedy. Or try 5 HTP that you can get a tWalmart. It is a supplement and controls mood swings and helps you sleep. It soesn't make you sleepy but helps you stay asleep. You prpbably need counseling to see where the anger is coming from so you can address the real issue while taking the supplements.Best wishes for a peaceful future. You can also get on your knees and ask God for the strength to control yourself and be a better person.

When I get angry I cant count 10 or think of what is going to happen. It just happens, more like reflex. Have not tried medication, coz it happens once in a while. The only thing that works is when in bad mood interact less with people, when you know the topic is not right, move away from discussion.

believe it or not, but food has a lot to do with the way we act. Try eating some plain yogart in the mornings for breakfast, drink lots of cold water, especally when you feel like your about to lose it. The yogart cools the brain.

You have to take control of it by yourself. I myself become angry quite often. But, one has to think about health and particularly heart related problems after forty. If we continue like this unabatedly.
I or U have to take charge of the situation. Avoid Pressure-cooker situation. Work regardless of its fruit. Losing is meant to be. Donot take to heart when we lose something dear. Take control of the situation. Medicines in the market may be flooded. But its in the human's hand to work up the capability enmeshed by GOD Himself in us.
