i m posting this question again bcoz no one has answered satisfactrely till now. it seems as if no one has d proper answer 2 this question.......
Idol worship is forbidden in Hinduism. Hindus do not worship idols but deities. There is a difference between idols and deities, deity worship is authorized, and idol worship is not authorized.
Although the Christians and Muslims say they do not worship idols, they actually do. The Christians worship the cross, which is an idol/symbol. The holiest shrine for the Muslims is the Kebba. What is there? A black stone, an idol. The Muslims worship the stone and revere it as holy.
The Muslims face the black stone in Kebba when worshipping, the Christians face the cross, and the Hindus face a deity of a real person who existed. Who is the idol worshiper?

u hav given an excellent argument. acc 2 many answers christians dont worship cross, even if i agree this, but y they give so much importance 2 this symbols. during child birth, at d funeral etc. everywhere cross is considered as a symbol of god. if cross is not god or if they don't worship cross , then i thing they should eliminate cross altogether frm christianity. purely believe in what they said. "god has no image". y christians hang a picture of cross in their homes. y they wear cross lockets.
some answered that it is not stone or wooden made. i think that means brass or steel is allowed for god's image just bcoz it is used 2 make cross. very strange.

now abt muslims. even they say that they don't believe in image/idol(watever u say) worship. they why "hajj" is considered so holy and ultimate place 4 muslims. when allah is everywhere then wat's d need 2 go 2 kebba. y muslims hang a picture of kebba in their homes. if allah is everywhere then y they face a window while praying in masjid. window is in mecca's direction.

when christians and muslims believe in some form of image , then y cant hindus. u can look at this other way around. hindus hav given shape 2 d so called "cross" and "kebba/masjid window".

Ignorance!! Idol (idle) worship means to worship something material, generally speaking the adherents of the abrahamic desert religions are unable to comprehend the significance of the arca-vigraha deity form, nor the quality of pada sevanam.

As declared by Lord Kapiladeva :-In the material world, the Lord is always worshipped as the arca-vigraha, or Deity in the temple. There is no difference between the arca-vigraha and the original person, and therefore those who are engaged in worshipping the Deity in the temple in full opulence, even on this planet, should be understood to be directly in touch with the Supreme Personality of Godhead without a doubt."

As you correctly state there is a clear standard of hypocrisy and a clear misunderstanding of the manifestation of subtle superior energy manifested through the deity form to accept seva, vandanam & arcanam from the mahatma's.

Yeah. I agree. because people like to put a label on something they disagree with so they have a stronger defense as to why it isn't right. I have experienced the same issue with wicca. We don't actually believe in the devil, but it is so common to hear that associated with it. Just because I have different ways of worship dosn't mean I am a devil worshipper. I worship the earth, and nature. Thats where I find my serenity. And if it fulfills my soul then it shouldn't concern you in the aspect that you are more spiritual than I because you are Christian. Religions like that are full of people with a superiority complex who feel the need to say they're better than you because they are holy, and you are a heathen for not following Christ, or whatever. SO you know what, all you labels out there who think you're better than me, you can all BL*W me. Hope that helps. Have a nice day. :)

I feel there is some need for clarity on christians..... christians do not worship the cross.....quite possibly catholics do but no christians...the cross is there for only rememberance of what the savior sacrificed there....if you ask a christian is it true that they worship the cross they will tell you that they worship Jesus and try to follow to the best of their ability what he did and taught on this earth that is why they are called christians......and about idols,.....idols are man made material objects that people worship and believe to have special powers, deities are supposed "Gods" that are man made beliefs some use idols to represent and worship them and think that their idol has the powers of their supposed deity,........but the wonderful thing about the Creator our Living God is that he needs no form and exist with or without man and man's belief and needs no man made concoction to get people's attention.........that my friend is a true God

John 3:16 is the key!

Muslims do not worship the Kebba (the black stone), they worship Allah only and the Kebba is only for the direction. Muslims all around the world when they pray, they head all for that direction, which is Kebba in Mecca.

Idol and Deity means the same thing, please look up. Muslims do not worship the black stone as you say, it just happens to be there, near the house of God which is the direction we face to pray. There is nothing inside the house of God. We dont take the name of the stone or the house(Kabaa) when we pray, we only take the name of God.

Christians do not worship the Cross friend.

Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Did you the Catholic Church got rid of this commandment?? CHECK THE CATECHISM. Please do not accuse true Christians of Idolatry, when we don't worship statues, pictures or wooden objects.

God Bless !!

You are mistaken......
No recognised authority has ever said that only hindu's worship idols.
And if anybody said it its a wrong statement (pl refer to International Sociology books)
There are many other religions who preform idol worship
