Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
Proverbs 23:20-21
Be not among winebibbers.... For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty.
Proverbs 23:29-30
Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
Proverbs 23:31-32
Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
Isaiah 28:7
But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
Romans 14:21
It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
Galatians 5:21
Drunkenness ... and such like ... they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
there are a few verses which say wine is ok--but the greater number of verses counsel against over-imbibing in wine or strong drink.
i, at the very least, would take this to mean 'moderation' in drinking. i don't drink at all.

Prohibition of alcohol in the Bible
The Bible prohibits the consumption of alcohol in the following verses:
a. Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging; and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. [Proverbs, 20:1]
b. And be not drunk with wine. [Ephesians 5 :18]

We should not drink alchohol. Every time someone in the OT drank it ended up bad.
also Proverbs say = Pro 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
Also the word WINE which is used throughout the new testament is used for both fermented and unfermented. Jesus did not drink alcohol.
ALCOHOL IS BAD FOR YOU, FACT.
"thou shall not kill" smoking and drinking is killing
1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
Also if anyone tells you that one glass of red wine a day is good for you, it isn't. Its just as good for you as drinking grape juice. Actually its better because it does not KILL YOUR LIVER!!

Are you serious? The bible is God's word or whatever and if you're saying "well don't just read that cause it won't make sense read the scholar's writing too" then you're saying the bible won't make sense and you shouldn't have to read any scholar's writing's to understand the bible. The bible is supposed to be the words to live by and if you need to further understand it with scholars writing's then you know in your heart the bible is pure crap.

Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish; let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.
Proverb 31:6,7 a favorite verse of alcoholics and proof you can use the Bible to justify just about anything.

No there is no verse against it but in proverbs it does warn you aginst the affects it can bring. It is wrong to be a stumbling block against others. If you know somone struggles with alcohal and you drink it in front of them and make them fall into it, its sin, I wouldnt drink it because even though i dont believe its wrong to drink it, i dont want to loose my testimony because of it, by others seeing me drink it in bars. If i did i would drink it in my home or with somone who shares the same convictions.
