Try Queanbeyan , NSW, it is very close to Canberra , the capital of Australia, pretty good job opportunities, relaxed, lots of parks and open spaces, 3 hours drive from Sydney and close to snow fields, about 2 hours away.

I think anywhere near a beach - because the kids wouldn't be bored. You would have a nice place to go for walks and it's a healthy environment (except for the wicked UV rays).

I have lived in many places in Aus I have been brought up my whole life in Tasmania (Hobart) and just recently moved back here. Tasmania has a relaxed lifestyle and is really friendly and not as populated as most places in Aus. The downside is it is really cold in winter.

If it's a city - I heard McKay in Queensland is beautiful. My Dad also digs Perth a lot.
