Hey this is "Granny"..two c-sections, holding a pillow to your belly will help, bending slightly forward(especially for coughing and bowel movements)...Move around often getting your body to work and heal taking breaks often. You'll be just fine!

Walk, drink water, eat fruits and vegetables every day to stay regular, take an OTC medication like Advil (if the doctor says it's okay). Sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees. Roll to one side to get up out of bed. If you have a recliner at home, take your daily nap in the chair since it's easier to get up from this position. Don't lift anything heavy and let someone else clean the house for a few weeks. I found that a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and placed on my tummy gave me some relief.
It takes a few weeks before everything is more normal. A c-section is a surgery that cuts through layers of skin and muscle so you will be sore for a while. The pain will subside, but I agree that it does hurt. I had two sections so I know how you feel.

You should have something for your pain from your doctor other than over the counter pain meds for post-op pain....if u don't have any...please ask! Doctors usually under medicate when it comes to pain!!
Be aware of what u should do if u r breastfeeding right now depending on what meds u need. You shouldn't have to give up breastfeeding-get expert advice.
For those short times like laughing.....use a pillow (press it as hard as u can against the incision or have some one help u hold it-it's called splinting your incision) To make bowel movements less painful...make sure u r using a safe stool softener daily until your incision heals i.e. Surfactant or Sennecot-S from a drugstore.Good Luck & congradulations!!!

Look at your baby and the pain wont seem so bad. Am afraid that unless someone has actually had a C section and then been given a baby to look after they cannot possibly imagine how difficult it is. Coming from a mum who had 2 c Sections and then a natural birth with the 3rd child, those people who say its easier to have a C Section have no idea.

Your doc should have given you some kind of pain meds. You didn't say if you were home or not. The best way to get over most of the pain is to get up and move around. The more you do the better able to manage your pain. I had two c-sections and they both hurt like hell afterward but you just have to get up and keep going like always. If its hurting really really bad then you should go back and see your doc and tell him whats going on....it could be a sign of infection starting.

Uh, there really is none. I had one done 2 weeks ago and it hurt to laugh, cough, sneeze and get up and down out of a chair, toilet or car. I was prescribed oxycodone and it helped somewhat but didn't totally take all the pain away. Sitting still was my best option, I did have the nurses to bring me a heating pad which helped very minimal as well. But once I'd get up walking, the pain would subside better than laying down. Walking will get rid of the gas and bloating also. And no spicy or greasy foods either until the doctor tells you otherwise.

Her midwife is an fool. Her water has broken, an infection can get to the toddler now (and particular has) she desires that toddler introduced NOW. If she isn't that toddler might desire to be nonetheless born. She desires to get to the well being facility and have a c-section. i do no longer care how lots she needs an at-residing house delivery, she's basically putting the toddler in possibility now.

take Tylenol or the pain meds they gave you . you will start to feel better soon, but it takes several weeks for you to feel right again. try holding your incision site when you have to cough and don't strain when going to the bathroom, ask your doctor for a stool softener it will help.
i had a c section years ago and it is hard to deal with at first, but you will get better if you take it easy as much as possible and try to get dad and family to help out with baby when you feel really in pain

Just get going. Get up, walk around and deal with it. I have been there and I understand. Take your pain meds on a regular basis and do not wait until you are hurting. Congrats on your delivery!!! So start moving around so you can starting caring for that baby.

I've never had a c-section so I can't give proper advice but thanks for the points and you might want to try to just relax by the pool? read a good book? go shopping? watch tv? um, watch a movie? eat? sleep? exercise? talk to someone on the phone? nap? etc. there are alot of things you can do to take your mind offf the pain, but yet I don't really know how painful a c-section can be. hope this helps somewhat.
