Now it's 2:20, thanx for all suggestions, Yahoo won't let me choose best answer for 4 hours. But I took 2nd suggestion and made warm bath, no nite cap, but had some mint tea too. There's no one to wake up to "make me exhausted" , my young husband died 6 months ago, I'll try a boring book for a few minutes, maybe with some stories of jumping sheep in it? I'll save all your ideas for next sleepless nite. thanks again.

Get off the computer, which will, in fact, stimulate your brain to the point of being hyper aware.

Do not raid the fridge. Eating triggers digestion, which is not conducive to falling - or staying - asleep.

Do not go to the kitchen to make warm milk etc. because the very act of going there will cause you to become more alert.

Turn the lights down. If you have a usual bedtime ritual, now is the time to do it - whether taking off makeup, or brushing hair, or any other habit that you indulge in before bedtime and which disengages you from the cares and frustrations of the day.

Think of something relaxing and pleasant. If you get into bed and feel tense, imagine yourself as being made of heavy rope - all your joints are knots, which you will undo, joint after joint, beginning with your toes. And you will tell yourself that every knot you undo makes you more relaxed.

And if you do these things you'll sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Have a turkey sandwich and drink a glass of warm milk. Or take an over the counter sleeping medication.

Well, since you're already wide awake, go take a nice hot bubble bath. That will relax your body. Then when you get out, lay in your bed and read. That will relax your mind. Hope it works. Good luck.

Please look at your whole day work and find out what you have did which makes you satisfy. give five to ten minutes for prayer.
Think of the coming tomorrow with wonderful things which are still being not done by you today.

Good night.
