you need about 165 to 170 dbs. this is extremly loud. with your two 10 inch subs you are probably getting around 95 to 110 dbs. your glass will be just fine.

i had 2 15 inch diamond audio subs with 1000 watts rms going to both in a hatch back. you could see the glass bowing in and out with the bass but it never broke. it did ruin the seal though and water started to leak in.

Your chances of breaking a back window are slim to none.....mostly none. You would stand a much better chance cracking your windshield. The reason is because a windshield is made out of a different type of glass. Windshields are 2 pieces of regular glass with .030 vinyl sandwiched in between it. It is not as strong as a back window because most back windows are made from tempered glass. It is generally 3/16 or 1/4 inch regular glass that has been heat treated to within approx 3 degrees of the melting point and then cooled at a certain rate to temper or harden the glass. Most side windows are the same way. This why a windshield will crack and stay together but a tempered window will shatter into a million pieces. Keep in mind that a tempered glass is about 8-10 times stronger than a regular glass of the same thickness. So, crank it up!

Not really. It depends on the type of car you have. If its a pre 80s the glass is probably held in with butyl tape. This is soft and should absorb any vibrations. Next would be a window seal. This is where the glass is held in with rubber. Not much you can do there. And if its a newer car, the glass is held in with urethane adhesive. This is hard and has to be cut out with special tools. Can;t do anything with that since it is structural. I wouldn't worry about it. If you had a sound system loud enough to break the glass, you'd be deaf before it happened.

High pitch noise may do it but bass you really have to pump it to break a car windshield. What can happen though is that some interior of your car can start to rattle and that can be annoying

I just caught the end of mythbusters the other day and they had a 5foot sub in a car and all i heard after my jaw hit the floor was they said it was immpossible to destroy a car with a sub...so dont worry your 850 watt amp will only act as a small vibrator

i knew a guy that was running a true 8000 watts RMS (comp truck), and he had to open his doors whn he cranked it because it would break glass due to compression. only car ive ever encountered that can do it. Alot of it is based on air moving vs air in the car (pressure change), more than the watts.

So much that you wouldn't hear it happen, 'cause you'd already be very deaf.
