I work for great clips and I have been a licenced cosmetologist for 8 years. I have worked at other "high end" shops. I choose to work there because I make really good money. I also have many clients that have followed me there from other shops. I hear all these rumors that it is a bad place to get your haircut. Let me tell you, I've seen many bad cuts that have been cut at a so called "high end" shops. They are not all good. You risk it anywhere you go. I just want some opinions on how others feel about the great clips shops.

I always get my hair cut there. The problem is, the results are really random. For instance, about six haircuts ago I got a GREAT haircut. She totally nailed it, best haircut I've had in a long time. I asked her what to say to the person next time to get the same results.

Next time, I said exactly what she told me to and got a terrible mess of a haircut.

The next two times I tried to fix it, and the results were not great. On one I pretty much wound up with a mullet. Not entirely their fault, since I wasn't sure what to do to fix it (I have no idea how to talk to stylists, half the time the terms they use mean nothing to me), but when I said, "I'm not sure, I think maybe it needs this," they should have said, no, that's a mistake.

The next one after that was good again, although it took a couple days to settle in before I could really tell.

Then the last one, I said I just wanted one inch trimmed. She took off 3 (which I saw after I put my glasses back on). I have t-shirts older than that girl was.

I can never keep track of who's who there and when they work to try to get the same good person more than once. Plus, there's high turnover. I'm sure there are people like you there, who have a lot of experience and work there because they want to. But I also suspect it's a first job for a lot of people, in which they get some experience and discover they're totally in the wrong profession.

What is important is how good the cosmetologist can do the cut. I've had expensive bad cuts and great cheap cuts. If I'm going to walk in not knowing the stylists then I'd rather pay the lower price. At least that way I don't feel so ripped off on a bad cut. On the other hand if I find someone I really like then I don't mind paying a much higher price.

I've enver heard of the place before, I actually get my hair done by the girls I went to cosmetology school with, right out of school & they're really good, I've only gotten one bad cut that's all
