I HATE IT when i order a Funghi Spagetti and having to think for a few moments before ordering.
By the way, my stand is 'Fungai...'
The last time the waiter 'corrected' me and say, its Fungheee!
"Ohhh!!!! Jolly well my Boy, do u want me to tip you for that?"

Fungi can be pronounced with either a soft or hard "g". The most common American pronunciation is with the soft "g" or FUNGHEE. But I sure wouldn't leave a tip for a waiter who makes corrections to his clienteles' English; especially when it's a very gray call. 'FUNGAI' is not really a wrong pronunciation; just a rarer one.

It's funghee. My boyfriend got his masters studying the stuff and has corrected my pronouncement many times.....

It looks to me like you are using the Italian word for mushroom, not the scientific plural of fungus. You spelled it funghi, which is Italian and pronounced foon' - jee. The plural of fungus is fungi (no "h") and is pronounced fun' - guy.
