Quite honestly, guys are complete morons when it comes to this. You can be giving them every single "signal" there is, he still won't get it. The best way is to tell him. If you don't want to be too forward say something like, "I'm free this Friday, and I wouldn't say no if you asked me on a date." A guy MIGHT get that hint.

when a guy wants to know if a girl likes him, they may see if the girl likes hanging out with him. The guy may notice that the girl treats him better than any other guy, if you want to know if the guy likes you try asking a friend to do a little spying or tell your friend to tell the guy you like that if he likes you. Also if the guy enjoys your company that means he likes you or your his best friend(if your his best friend, hang on to that bond). Make eye contact frequently. Go out of your way to talk to him. Show that you've noticed something he's done or is interested in. Make some kind of physical contact -- pick fuzz off of his shirt or something. In a group setting, give him the most attention.

hints like when smsing the gal, if the gal reply with mundane words or few words reply then the gal is not interested, but if the gal reply is interesting and she ask about you. thus the guy might assume that the gal likes him or interested to know him better

Each guy is different...You have your shallow one's who only look for gorgeous gals, but you ahve your ones who like girls for who they are, for what they're attracted to.
