the currency in Italy is th euro. It is approx $1.23 to each euro but that fluctuates daily. I find the best way to exchange money is through your ATM. Your bank will find you the best rate available. I wait until I fly in. Go directly to an ATM and take out a few hundred euro. There are ATM's all around the airports. If you don't keep track though you may be a bit surprised when you get your first statement. Also use a credit card whenever possible. Again, your bank will find you the best rate.

The currency is different then other world countries, they use the Euro. Your country may use something else. Also many italians use the barter system, or trading. So its the Euro and trades.
