Yeah, but wouldn't that person just vandalize your sign too? Plus it would just be unrealistic to get any kind of info from signs in random places. All you need to do, is explain the situation to your neighbors, and see if they can look out for your property while you are away, and mention a reward for their efforts.
Also you may want to contact your local law enforcement, and request extra patrol in your area, which may help.
