Isn't this book so lame? It has to have one of the worst endings ever. know there was probably some symbolism but the plot was horrible. I like it when the family was on the road but then the plot brokedown at the end. What do you guys think of the book?

i loved how the mother kept trying to keep the family together. the Rose of Sharon pised me off cuz she was so annoying as were the two kids.

I think it's vastly overrated. It's one of those, "quick I need to write an american lit paper and need a book a kid could understand!" but ultimately comes to the fact that it is the same old cliched crap and overdone social statements that seems to infest most american novels.

Greatest American novel of all time. And not a bad film version, either. And the film doesn't have the ending you so apparently object to.

It's an American classic and an excellent piece of literature. Try to put yourself in their place and understand what the depression was really like.

I really enjoyed it and most of the other books by John Steinbeck.

REad it again, awesome book, everyone has trying times so people can relate. I thought it was touching
