Props to Marten, it is indeed a Savage 29, however, what's a D-1? And those dates were impressive too, maybe you know something I don't, but I CAN tell you it was made before 1940 if it has an octagon barrel, if it's round it was made circa 1940-196?. It's not gonna be worth a whole lot, if you're trying to sell it and someone offers you $150 or better, unless it's in perfect shape take it(even then I wouldn't hope for much more). Right now the Sears guns and their contemporaries are very NOT collectable, so, might as well hold onto it unless you just really don't care or are totally broke... or if you found a great deal and you just need something to trade.

It is a Savage Model 29-D1. Manufactured between 1933 and 1945.

most rifles sold by montgomry ward/sears ..were made by stevens or savage arms co.need more info to identify...semi auto,bolt action ect...cal?
good answer Martin i couldn't find it in my books.
