One I started when I had children was give them week long birthdays. This way, it never mattered what day of the week their birthday fell on, there was decorations and fun for a whole week. When they were young, they really loved it. Now that they're older, it's harder to keep up.
To me, birthdays are more important than any other holiday celebration ... what better way to remind my children how happy I am that they were born every year and how important each of them are to me than to give special meals, gifts and entertainment for a week?
I think they loved it.
