The guy went psycho in the Peter-Toney press conference. Seems to hint at substance abuse.

No amount of steriods or other substances will save Toney from the 'Nightmare' who has been biding his time for a while. I hope they don't disqualify Toney before the fight, which they will do if they test him because it is clear he is not on the level. Let him fight Peters and get a dose of some Nightmarish medicine before they test and disqualify him. Drug cheats should not be allowed in Sports and the penalty Toney got the last time was too lenient. In Track and Field, you could get banned for life!

Toney tested positive for steroids after beating John Ruiz in 3/05. He was suspended for 90 days by the New York Athletic Commission, the bout was declared a "no contest" and Ruiz got the belt back. Toney claimed that he was prescribed steroids by a doctor to treat an arm injury that he sustained in an earlier fight. Toney has always had a lot of attitude, but I don't think its from substance abuse. As far as his upcoming fight with Sam Peter, unless Peter has somehow learned to box over the past few months Toney will easily outbox him. He's one of the most skilled boxers around and despite his advanced age should easily decision "The Nigerian Nightmare". Peter has freaky power, but can charitably be called a "raw" fighter.

Toney may not be taking steroids now--it has been documented that he has in the past. I think Toney doesn't take his training seriously enough to get down some of his weight. I remember Teddy Atlas getting on him about a few months ago.

He has picked up quite a bit of weight and he is also very aggressive. I think he does use Steroids because he has used them once before to get into peak shape so that must means he needs them to get into peak shape.
I believe once James Toney moved up to heavyweight he used Steroids.

I dont beieve he uses steroids. When he tested positive for them he was coming off a injury and was perscribed them by a doctor. As for his temper he always had that. Evan as a middleweight he flipped out after losing to roy jones and choked his manger Jackie Caloun. If he took steroids why is he so out of shape?
