BBQ Ribs

mix some liquid smoke, garlic, and brown sugar together and roll the ribs in the mix.

layer the ribs in the crock alternating layers of sliced onion and ribs.

pour enough coke/pepsie over the ribs until they are covered.

Cook on low 8 hours

Take the ribs out of the pot. Dump the "broth"

Roll the ribs in your favorite bbq sauce and place them back into the crock pot for an hour on high.

These are always a hit and my families favorite.

When I was living in the south, my friend's mother used to make the most amazing meal. She'd take a fatty pot roast, throw it in her crock pot with a ham hock and a sliced white onion. Then she'd take a large can of green beans and dump the whole thing on top, liquid and all, and let it stew for hours.

Not very healthy, but so delicious. That's the south for you.

Ahhh. I like lentil soup in the crock pot. It is heavenly!

Cook a carcass (ham bone, turkey or chicken) for four hours or use chicken stock.

Wash the lentils, add to crock pot with 4 stalks celery, 4 carrots, 2 bay leaves, one quartered onion, 4 sprigs parsley, and a pinch of cayenne.

Cook for four hours. puree half the lentils and all the vegetables and add them back into the pot.

Enjoy with pumpernickel bread or stone wheat crackers!

I really don't like the texture of meat when in a crock pot - too mushy... However, navy beans with bacon, carrots, maybe a bit of ham.. that works.
