Gasoline should not be carried in anything but the red labeled gasoline carriers,The current ones are plastic. They have tops that don't leak and also can take care of expansion. Never put gasoline in an empty food container. Never use fuel containers meant for other fuels(yellow for diesel, blue for kerosene)This can cause an explosive situation. If you carry gaso;ine be sure it is sealed well and in a ventilated area.

Hi, there are many types of plastic in use in the world. Each is designed for a specific purpose. Some can withstand heat, some can withstand pressure, some can withstand oil and some can withstand fuel. So it will not be advisable for you to use a plastic container for one substance to carry another type that it is not designed for. What can happen is that the plastic may break down and spills its contents. This could be the reason why you find plastic bottle leaking when you try to carry something other than what it was originally containing.

In the same way, the plastic for fuel tank or fuel container are specifically designed to withstand fuel and also the pressure when the fuel evaporates inside. If you put other liquid inside, this may deteriote the plastic walls and make it unsuitable to acrry fuel any more. So you will need to be careful with this.

Easy experiment will be transferring the fizzy drink from its bottle to a mineral water bottle and see the result.

Take care.

absolutely it is dangerous.
The plastics used in bottles is of a grade that isn't very resistive to the properties in fuel.
The plastic in "Jerry" cans, marine outboard tanks and vehicle tanks are designed not to degrade when in contact with gasoline.
The fuel cells used in drag cars are plastic for weight savings and they use the highest grade of fuels possable.

yes its dangerous if the container isnt designed for gas...gas eats thru plastic containers such as milk containers. some gas containers are made of plastic but its thick plastic designed to hold gas.
