I am hopefully going to be starting med school next fall, and i wanted to find out if there is a way to use the loans to pay for a condo or apartment (preferably a condo).

Yes, but you will have to find a sympathetic lender, as your repayment status isn't secure.

For example, what if you drop out or flunk out of school? Perhaps you should get a duplex where there is a rental unit that will cover the entire mortgage payment, for example.

Please keep in mind that you will have to pay ALL that money back one day. Don't get in over your head trying to afford a nice place. You should try to split cost of housing with someone.
