While in church today,I did a silly.I had BAD gas and just wanted to get thru the service when i moved and let out a loud stinker that echoed against the wooden pew. Heads turned around & pastor stopped his sermon.I got flushed and said "Excuse me God", which got some laughter, but the pastor seemed miffed.Should I have excused myself to him ?

Don't worry about it - that is why they are called PEWS!

It is a natural thing - timing sucked - but it happens. Everyone-even your pastor has about 2 liters of gas inside that has to come out each and every day.

Personally - that is the funniest thing I have ever heard, and I bet everyone laughed their asses off when they went home after church.

By the way - I think God has a sense of humor (after all we are made in His image), and He thought it was funny too.

I think that I would have been embarrased about the gas too. But I don't think that there is anything wrong with saying "excuse me god", it was just a spontaneous way that showed that you respect to the church and god. I know at least one church where the pastor would laugh together with others. I don't think that there is need for apology to him.

I'm sorry that happened to you, but it is pretty funny. Maybe see how he is next week and if you still get the feeling he's miffed, pull him aside and apologize privately. Just tell himthat you were embarrassed. If you doesn't understand, then he isn't a very good pastor. When you are preaching to a congregation of people (in my case teaching third graders) you need to be able to roll with the punches and take things with a grain of salt...anything can happen and will!

That is hilarious! You can't help it if a fart snuck out. If you had of stood up in the pew and then did it on the old lady next to you, that then would have been rude.
You still should have blamed the person next to you though.
Just don't do it next week - won't be so funny then.

That's kind of a hard question. I'm sure your pastor got mad as he thought you were mocking the fact you were in church. He just didn't think you were serious. I don't think you did anything wrong, just a mixed-communication problem.

Now would probably be the time to consider some dietary changes.

Farts are funny. Your pastor will get over it.
