at least an hour but maybe no longer than 2 hrs. Depends also on the childs energy level, some kids need longer nap than others...espeacially if they have been running around etc....

Small children require between 9-11 hours of sleep per day. This can be all at once or broken up into smaller parts. So if your toddler sleeps for 9 hours at night, he should have either a morning and afternoon nap of 1 hour each, or an afternoon nap of 2 hours.
Some children do not need as much sleep, and depending on what time your child gets up in the morning ( I think a nap should be 4 hours after waking up, and wake up from afternoon nap 4 hours at least before bed), your toddler might only have an afternoon or morning nap.
My son is 3, and I am phasing out naps. On days that he wakes up early, or is extra irritable, I have him nap in the afternoon. He usually naps for 2 hours. It does make it harder for him to go to bed though.

depending on the age, and what time he gets up. When my son was 2 if he got up at 8 or 9 in the morn he would take a 2 hr nap in the afternoon anything longer then that he was up half the night. now that hes four if he takes a nap hes up till 11 or 12.

My daughter is two. She switched from 2 naps to a million at twelve months. in view that then her naps are from very virtually 2 hours to 3 hours long. She is going to mattress approx 8-8:30, and wakes up around 7am. Naps from a million:30- approximately 3:30-4:00.

My 2 year old (26mo to be exact) has one nap a day for about 2-3 hours. every once in a while she will go without a nap, but makes for a very cranky kid around dinner time.

a toddler should always take a nap after lunch. when he/she is done eating take him/her a bath. this will relax him/her. put him/her to bed and wake them up around 1pm. NEVER allow the toddler to take a nap after 1pm. if you do he/she will be giving you a hard time to go to sleep at bedtime. my sister have 2 toddlers and she does not make a schedule for them to take a nap. there are times that they don't take a nap and they be up real late.
