No, we're all evil and depraved. Even the good things we do are done for the wrong reasons.

I tend to think we all have the seeds of good and bad within us. Its then an issue over which seed is provided more incentive to grow. I have done work with children and I think we start life in an sort of neutral place. I see really young children who don't have the concept of what we normally think of as good behavior. Many will knock another child down to get a toy they want. On the other hand I often see them rush to comfort another child who is crying, putting their arm around them without being prompted and comforting them. So I think there is some natural empathy at work. I think sometimes people who have lots of bad life experiences have more chance of becoming really bad people because goodness was not nutured or encouraged in them and since they were treated badly they see that as normal or don't see why they should behave differently.
I do volunteer work and I absolutely feel that it is not a completely unselfish act on my part. I get a lot of personal satisfaction and empowerment from it--a feeling of taking some personal control over trying to make the world a better place rather than just accepting things are not as they should be.

Jeff M i cant believe you can say that we are all bad people and have all sinned and jesus will be the judge if werent so blinded by the crap the bible talks and that you will understand that life is a complete learning experience to purify our souls for the next life as there is such thing our spirt is immortal we are on earth to learn hardship and learn as much as we possible can.Doing charity work is good because even though you are statisfied and you have done a good deed it does not change the fact of what you have just done for nothing in return and you dont expect it.There is such thing as reincarnation we have had many lives and thats why were on earth to keep learning intill we get it right and when you die there are such gods that judge on our life we just had but guess what you are your own judge believe that or not.I guess your answer is for sure there are good and bad people the world would be bland if we were all equal but there is such thing as good they are those who do not judge people do not talk irrationally do respect people and there beliefs but still have there own belief and help people but not for self gain but just merely for the good of helping someone!!! Those who are bad kill people murder lie decieve all that horrible stuff indeed will suffer when they die for there is no such thing its merely just out of the physical form and those people will be sent back to hell (earth) yes were in it well i know it seems hard to grasp or believe but ill leave it up to you.

There is a little good in us all. There is also a little evil in us all. Everyday these two fight and one will win for the day. There is a quote about an Indian(native American) saying about there are two dogs in him fighting every day. The guy asked which one wins. So the Indian paused for a moment and said which ever one I feed more. See that is how it goes. We all have teh potential for both, which one do you want to be. No one is totally good or totally bad and to think that anyone is is insane. Actually we would be all bad people long before being all good. To be all good would take far too much. Even Jesus had to fight temptation, even if he won the point is he did have to fight it. Wouldn't someone who is all good not even have to fight temptation. Before you say NO remember they are all good so why would they KNOW OF temptation. They would be far too good to be able to be tempted.

I believe that we are all born to do good. Some people just get corrupted along the way. Even bad people have some good deep, deep, down inside of them. Who knows why people do bad things, not me... As for the charity work, doing good for others does bring self gratification, but that doesn't mean (in most cases) that people do it to make yourself look or feel better, they do it because someone NEEDS the help.

We are very unique creatures in that we are made in the image of God (having a good nature) but also a capacity for sin. We both know there are good and bad people in the world. Nobody is perfect; obviously some good people are going to sin at times and there are times in evil peoples lives where they do the right thing.
There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those who promote peace. -Proverbs 12:20
This is the evil in everything that happens under the sun: The same destiny overtakes all. The hearts of men, moreover, are full of evil and there is madness in their hearts while they live, and afterward they join the dead. -Ecclesiastes 9:3
The real Q is, how do they get evil? Genetics? Environment? The heart God gives us? Pure choice or are we predestined? Many people over the centuries have argued it all ways. I say its a combination of things but THEE most critical thing that gets the whole ball rolling is your God given ability to self-determine your own fate and CHOOSE him.

Depends on the perspective from which you judge the person. In war I have killed people to save other people as well as myself. Does that make me good or bad? If someone I love was being raped or murdered, I would kill again if I had too. Good or bad? I'm a good, decent and loving man, but I have that capacity within me. Good or bad? Is there an answer? What is the answer? You tell me. Remember it says "thou shalt not kill" not "thou shalt not kill except".

I think the majority of people are good but there are some people that are bad and generally the bad people are the ones that make life hard for the rest of society.

I'd say we start nuetral and as the course of our lives pans out we are affected by things and people around us. That is what makes us good or evil, at least what I think.

I think all people are born "bad" simply because they are born with human desires (aka sex, making things easy, being greedy). But people have the ability to use your mind, and can become "good". So you're born bad, but with the ability to become good.

"good" and "bad" are grey lines that society has created for you.
Helping other people is something that been hammered home to the religious, as well as atheists who have "pondered" the question. For different reasons, obviously.
Some people realize that this is our only shot at life, and we should try to make it better for our kids.
