I am dead if I am not saved. That is the way it is. If I am not saved, I am cut off from God's mercy and God's power...and therefore I am operating on my own resources and within the framework of being a creature of the flesh who will perish eventually. I mean, if I am not saved, ALL I am is a creature of the flesh operating on my own resources...which means also, since flesh leads to death, that I am, for all intents and purposes, dead. If I am going nowhere in this life--apart from God's purpose--and if I am going to no other life, then this is living death. It is just existing for my own amusement and paltry pleasure, until the day comes when the breath leaves my body and I am returned to the earth.

When I am born again--that is, saved through the mercy of Jesus Christ--God begins working in my life. He awakens my spirit. He sets me on a path to fulfill my purpose in this life, and what I do in this life echoes in eternity--good and bad. I am invited into the body of Christ, which is a body on this earth and also a "communion," for lack of a better word, in the otherworld. God gives me hope in him--not hope in me, or in you, or in the lottery, or for a job interview, or that I achieve world domination--but eternal hope...the hope that God's kingdom will come. All "wrongs" I see in this world are made right by God's justice. I become alive to a vision that more closely parallels a divine being's than a finite being's. That is, I am able to live in this world but also live off to the side of it, knowing in my heart and soul that this world is but a dim reflection of life and a proving ground, nothing more.

This is just part of what being born again means in my life.

To me it is what happens (or begins to happen) when you accept Jesus as your personal savior. As a christian a person is suppose to grow in Christ. Being born again is like you have been trapped in a place you cannot escape. It is difficult to understand why God does the things he does. Also why he does NOT do the things many of us think he should. As we turn away from the world we see Christ and he represents a way out of some of the things we do and say. Thus, we "leave" the world and travel the road to Christ. Sometimes it is not an easy thing to do. But when we reach him we leave the confines of the world. Christians call this being "born again" Once we are born again we being the growth toward being a mature christian.

Please do not mistake some of the people (including but not limited to Pastors, Preachers, deacons, elders. etc.) who use Christianity for their own purposes. A true Christian does not hate, nor do they consider themselves to be sin free. "We ALL sin and fall short of the Glory of God" However through the love and sacrifice of Jesus God will always love and forgive us.

I will end here. I hope I have not given the impression that I'm preaching a sermon. But, you asked and that's what it means to me.

God Bless and Keep You!

I'm a "born again" Christian because at one time I did not live for Christ, I lived for myself. When I looked around and saw the damage I had done, I found God and He accepted me for who I am, despite the horrible destructive path I had left. When I accepted Christ as my God, I became a new person, not what I used to be, so I see it as born again. I started a new life with Jesus and I am so thankful. I used to cry over the years of pain I caused to others and myself until one day I felt God tug at my heart and say, "Who are you to hold onto this? I have forgiven you. You need to forgive yourself" What a blessing!

To me, I view being born again in terms of what Nicodemus asked Jesus in John 3. He wanted to know how to become born again.

It's all about our relationship with Jesus Christ. We are accepted into God's family and we are considered born again, because when we ask Jesus to come into our life and become in charge, we are starting all over, like a newborn baby.

We start with simple "milk" scriptures and learn as we grow. We then enter the terrible twos and the turbulent teens until we grow as fully mature adults. The milk is the basic teachings and then we start learnign more difficult concepts and we struggle with following them.

Jesus said "unless a man be born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven". When a person accepts Jesus Christ as savior, that person becomes (also as the bible tells us) a "new creation". The old man has passed away. It means, born of the spirit: the spirit of God that is now alive in us, through faith in His son.

Being reborn to me means being born into the spirit of God. To take Jesus Christ as your savior and accept that He died on the cross for our sins and that He rose again on the third day and assended into heaven and sits at the right had of his father God. If you accept this gift then you are reborn in the spirit and will have eternal life in heaven with Jesus.

All you have to do is say this prayer " I need you Jesus I cant do it alone..... I know im a sinner and not perfect but I also know and believe that you died for my sins that I might live in heaven with you.....Im sorry Jesus for all ive done wrong....take me and my life make me yours....I take you as Lord of my Life and commit myself to You.

And that my friend is when you become reborn into the spirit.....made a new creature in Jesus Christ and are forever saved.

Praise God for his love and mercy

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
We are born into a sinful world human... with a sinful nature... when we come to know Jesus Christ as our Savior and realize that the way we chose to live in the past in our sinful lifestyles is unpleasing to God.
To be born again is to say to God .... I am willing to turn away from the old me... let that sinful man die .... and come forward a Christian seeking to do things that are pleasing in the sight of God.. to be born into his Kingdom.... a New Creature in Christ.... the old sinful person that we were no longer exists... in essence he is dead.... and the New life.... in Jesus Christ begins.

Does this mean we never sin again? No certainly not... we are not perfect and will not be until we stand with the Lord in his glory.... however when we are "born again" Jesus begins a perfect work in us to be perfect when we are with him.

True acceptance of the gift of Salvation from Jesus Christ allows your spirit to be recreated anew from the Holy Spirit. In that you receive the Holy Spirit in replacement to your old spirit that was condemned to death by sin, you will become a new creation and are called "born again."

When you were born the first time it was into sin. You were condemned to eternal punishment for those sins. When you accepted Christ, he has already paid the punishment for the sins of whom ever shall believe in Him.

While many people speculate as to what is being 'born again' means, the Bible clarifies the process as a form of death.
