It could be a few different things...ranging from tuberculosis (contagious to others) to cancer...your dad really needs to see a doctor and very soon...this isnt something that should wait...if he is tested for TB and is positive then others such as yourself that are in close contact with him need to be treated also for TB...if your father refuses to go to a doctor then I highly suggest you go to your own doctor and explain why you want a TB test yourself...they are basically painless ...a tiny shot under the skin on forearm that you have looked at 48 hrs later...all health care workers have this test done yearly...TB is treatable..so I wouldnt delay talking to your dad about this....

It means that things are not good and your dad probably knows what is going on. His doctors have evaluated and informed him of his situation.
When my mom had cancer the doctor told us it was bad and not to give her any grieve about smoking. He also said in time it would take care of itself. That was very true, unfortunately.
Many people who have medical situations choose to not share the information with family members according to a friend who is a nurse. Try to gain his trust and encourage him to share with you. Enjoy every minute that you have with him. Good luck!

unfortunatly that is not a good sign. I do not want to speculate as to what the problem could be as there are MANY possible causes.
The best thing for you to do is just ask him. Tell him that you are worried. You may be thinking the worst and the problem might not be as bad as you think.
**Sending good thoughts your way**

Hard to know. Tell you father you are frightened by the coughing up blood and see what he says.

It's a symptom of cancer but try to get him to quit smoking and make the doctor's appt. for him if he won't make it himself.
