#1) Let God lead - though as a human I still screw this one up sometimes, but undoubtedly, whenever I try to lead my own life and choose things without God's input I suffer for it
#2) Stay true to what I believe - for a long time I allowed my love for a man to push aside my beliefs for fear he'd leave me. Way wrong move. He was never mine in the first place, since he didn't appreciate the 'real' me. He only liked me when I agreed with him. It's not ever worth it to not be yourself.

Lesson #1. Trust in God. He knows what he's doing. Other things and people will fall short if you put your faith in them.
Lesson #2 Learning to stand alone without the support of others is one of the hardest things you'll ever do.

1) Believe and love Jesus/God, wihtout Him life
has been wasted and it is a gift from Him. Also
I want to spend eternity with Him, not bound
in the pit of Hell.

2) Honesty, love, laughter and patience is all we need in
life. Material things and money is nothing but a
temporary thing and means nothing when we go to
be judged only what we did with this life we were
given. Make the most of life while you are here,
because it goes very fast.

To never say "If I were that person I would (or wouldn't) do ......... " - whatever it happens to be. You never know what you would or wouldn't do and you can't be someone else - You haven't got their background or their genetic makeup. Yes, we all have emotions but we don't all react the same. We really don't know what we would do --- but we do know what we probably SHOULD do. Just strive for that. 2nd thing I learned is that absent God's enormous grace I would be in a boatload of trouble.

A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.
- words from Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer"

The wise man is the one asking all the questions. The fool is the one with all the answers. Quite ironic, really.

You have to live with the choices you make, not anyone else, so make them based on how you feel.

If you treat others with respect and kindness, even when they are angry or being nasty to you, then you will often gain their respect and kindness in return.
