Reston is very nice. I am surprised you can find a place there for 1500 a month for 2 bedrooms.

I've lived in Reston for many years. It's a very good area. I have NEVER been the victim of any crime, either property or personal. And if you drive to Chantilly, you will be going "against" the traffic, which means that you are going in the opposite direction of most people, which is a good thing.

There are also plenty of other areas to consider. As a general rule, the farther south or west you go, the less expensive housing will be, as that is farther from DC. If you have kids, check out the schools they will be attending.

Cannot comment on the quality of the housing you are considering near Reston Town Center, as I don't know what street or block you're looking at. As you may know, the Reston Town Center area itself is quite nice.

All the new places near the town center are ridiculously overpriced. Reston is pretty nice, but it's smack in the middle of the Dulles Corridor, which is basically a few miles of tech jobs. Therefore, traffic can get pretty bad there. Ashburn is extremely safe, good schools, etc and is only a 15-20 minute drive from Chantilly. Fairfax is nice, especially if you look in the Fair Lakes section. I'd just stay away from Centerville, which is right next to Chantilly.

Chantilly area has lot of housing and cheaper. Reston is busy and developed and expensivve, but very lively and good. If working in Chantilly you get better accomadation as you go further west towards dulless airport .

Reston is a nice quieter planned community - no better or worse - with a nice charming town center - but miles from the fun of downtown D.C. Better choices in Virginia are Falls Church, Arlington, and Clarendon, which are each more metro accessible,

Reston is high priced. deliver countless money. it is advisable to look at Leesburg. L'burg is approximately quarter-hour far off from Reston and provides greater selections for housing. a lot of human beings stay in Winchester and commute in on Rte. 7. Manassas gives you housing on your variety, too. stay away from Fairfax, Falls Church and Alexandria. The housing is extreme there and there are a number of Asian gangs around. stay out of Maryland because of the fact is a Communist state and truthfully stinking with liberals. there is a lot shape happening in that area, you will no longer ought to attend long for yet another progression to open up. They build 'em 4 thoughts extreme, there. look on the Sterling area, too.

Avoid Reston. Ultra-strict housing rules. Absolutely no character. Blech, it was like being trapped in hell. There are definitely nicer areas around. Falls Church is much nicer, if it falls within your commuting distance.

Better access to Metro, too.

Very nice. Has had one of the fastest growing real estate markets in the past few years. Only issue there is if/when the bubble bursts. But the area is good.
