Maybe I shouldn't worry about it, because maybe the questioner is not the only one reading the answer. But I'm beginning to wonder if answer questions on this forum is worth the time.

I ask controversial questions to get people thinking and interesting debate going, and I try to respect the people who took the time to answer, even if I don't agree; unless their answer contains nothing but insults--showing appreciation for THAT kind of answer would be insincere.

Hang in there!
You are stronger than any criticism,
which you are promised.
Answer with the truth.
God's word will not return void.

Well since this isn't a FORUM, then maybe you wouldn't actually get a debate going. People can't debate others people's answers unless they read all the answers and post in refference to someone else comment.

What we need is a points and answer system that will allow more than one answer but you only get 2 points for the first answer.

sometimes it is hard to tell but most of the time the negative attitude comes through- whatever you choose to answer as long as you keep your attitude right and avoid bashing and name calling then the question does not matter as long as you are telling the truth- oyu never know who else besides the questioner might be reading and someone out there may need to hear the truth- keeping a right attitude despite the attitude of the questioner is going to strengthen your witness. It sometimes seems like it is not worht it but I have actually had a few people contact me personally and ask me about my faith or specific Biblical principles- it is worth it when someone is inspired to learn more and wants truth. All we can do is plant the seeds.

It is hard to discern whether it is a genuine question or a mocking one quite often. You would think however that people would stop being so childish as to continue to mock those who think differently than them. Have we not learned by looking around the globe where intolerance of different beliefs gets us? It gets us to war. When do we say enough is enough? When do we get a generation that says, no, we will no longer kill over something like different belief systems?

We are here for a reason.
Sometimes I get a little freaked out.
Sometimes I just feel the question isn't worthy of an answer.
I have found that there are a lot of opinions.
There are a lot of people have opinions and do not have knowledge to back up their opinions.
There are out and out unbelievers.
There are out and out God haters.
There are spiritual people.
They believe differently than you.
Do what you can.

It's not always easy to tell even in real life. It's harder to tell online, because you don't have clues like a little smirk or the impression that your questioner is trying not to laugh. I tend to answer religious questions as if they had been asked seriously, even when I suspect strongly that they have not been asked seriously. An old Charles Schulz cartoon shows two of the boys laughing (Schroeder and Shermy, I think). Charlie Brown asks them why they are laughing. One of them answers, "We're making fun of this picture in the paper." C.B.: "Why are you making fun of it?" Schroeder or Shermy: "Because we don't understand it."

Sometimes people make fun of religion because they're not comfortable with it.

In some cases, it doesn't matter. But I think it's easy to tell, because when you answer they accept it, instead of trying to find all the holes in it. It's easy for people to ask questions to rile people up. But if someone's sincere, they'll take it to heart.

The word of god has changing affects over people. If people mock you of your beliefs then they truley do not know what lord can do for them. They are just scared for what they can't see can maybe really help SAVE themselves

Usually by the tone of their reply. If it's not a Christian response then they are mocking. It's really NOT That Hard To ell The Difference!

Remember the mocking person had to read your question. It could be something you say that the Holy Spirit could use to motivate that person to change their view of Christ.

Difficult to tell. A good indication is whether they are capable of forming coherent sentences. If not, they are probably sincere.
