Maybe I shouldn't worry about it, because maybe the questioner is not the only one reading the answer. But I'm beginning to wonder if answer questions on this forum is worth the time.

I ask controversial questions to get people thinking and interesting debate going, and I try to respect the people who took the time to answer, even if I don't agree; unless their answer contains nothing but insults--showing appreciation for THAT kind of answer would be insincere.

Epona, of course it's ok for you to answer. I suppose people mock out what you believe as well, and your answer works for all points of view.

It takes much prayer, and keep in mind that while we would not waste time and talent resources by casting pearls of wisdom before those who will not benefit from it, we also want everyone to have the chance. Once the word has been spoken, each hearer is responsible for what he will do with it. May the seed you plant find fertile soil and a good cultivators so that the Lord of the Harvest will accept it.

I would suppose on some basic level you should be skeptical of any question or answer. The basic premise of the scientific method is to be a skeptic, and though I know that religion and science are often at odds, logic used in science can serve you well.
I often answer questions in a sarcastic or mocking way to make a point, if only because this method makes the person reading it have to think about the real meaning.
you stated that you like to ask controversial questions, so you should expect this and embrace it for what it is.

You just have to assume, unless their questions about Jesus are blatantly obscene, that they are being sincere.
Even if they are mocking, think of why they may be mocking. Maybe they are asking a question for something which seems to contradict itself. They may be searching for an answer to that question, but because they don't understand fully the concept, they mock it, or make light of it.
Jesus doesn't mind if people question things to try and understand them better, that's why god gave us critical thinking skills.

i'm not a christian. but i will say it this way.

In college, I told a friend that I was atheists. She was astonished and said she would pray for me. my response was "please do". I figured if I'm wrong to be atheist then i need all the prayer i could get to point me in the right direction.

If you consider yourself Christian then you are obligated to share the word of God's goodness with everyone. Even if they are mocking you, you are obligated to stand firm and share the message.

you're right. don't worry about it b/c even if some are mocking, you might touch others. that's what's important.

Just answer with honesty from your heart. Even if the person asking is being insincere someone else may read your answer and be touched by your words.

Blessings )O(
I know you addressed this to Christians. I hope you don't mind that I responded.

There are usually a few key words that let that go.

Some do not couch their feelings, letting their full venom come forth.

Others are more subtle, coming in under the radar, but still taking the Mickey out of the question.

Overall, questions are NOT worth it here

If they talk about JC in a way which is suspect, like his penis, or butt, or nipples, or something, you can probably bet that they're just a sorry apostate. Remember, people who talk about JC's privates, or sexual encounters w/ his family, or National Socialist leanings are anti-Christians, and should not be took seriously. Remember, Jesus walked this lonesome valley. He had to walk it by himself. Nobody else could walk it for him. He had to walk it by himself.

You answer the question regardless of the motivation of the asker. It is impossible to determine the motivation anyway, and regardless you will get silly and distractinc comments but you still answer or ask as you see fit.

I think it is sad. This is such a great forum, but the jerks really ruin it fo the good people. I guess you just have to take the good with the bad.
