Anyone else have that problem. So you cook it on both sides, put it on the plate, get your drink and napkin, take it all to the table and by the time you sit down to eat it, you pick it up and it's totally soggy on the bottom? How do i prevent this? Even if i eat it right away, without taking the time to get a drink, it still gets soggy

Probally, you used too much butter. Do not pre-butter the second side of your grilled cheese sandwich til you are ready to flip it on the other side. The longer it sits, the softer and mushier the bread becomes.Try it this way. it works perfect.Good-luck next time!

Hot food gives off steam. The top side is open to the air, so the steam can evaporate. On the bottom it's trapped, so the steam condenses and it gets soggy. Setting it on a rack to cool helps.
I actually haven't had this problem with grilled cheese sandwiches specifically, though.

You are using too much margerine. Just put a thin layer on the outer side of each slice.
Also, cook the grilled cheese really slow. You want to toast it thorougly, and not just cook the outside of the break.
Delicious! Server it with a slice of dill pickle, but don't get the pickle juice on the sandwich.

It's because the moisture gets trapped in the bottom. Why don't you put it on top of a grill/rack or something right after cooking it to let the moisture escape from the bottom? Do this and your sandwich won't dissapoint you.

Hot bread + cold plate = condensation. Using a paper plate will help, but not a lot.

It's the condensation. Just flip your sandwich after a minute on the plate.

Don't use margerine. I read on Yahoo news it is 2 atoms away from being plastic. All those chemicals. I won't touch the stuff after reading that.

Toast sweat....Put a paper towel on your plate before you place your toast upon it....it catches the crumbs too, so washing up is a breeze.
