Go to www.distrowatch.com, and follow the links. Read up on them, and see which one seems right for *you*. My laptop runs Fedora Core Rawhide, my desktop box is Ubuntu - and the reason for both will almost certainly not matter to you.

Linux is about personal choice - run the one that's best for *you*, not the one I say.. :)

mandrivia linux is the best and it has live cd installer also, Mandrivia one.

What's the application, how are you planning on using it? I don't think that you've provided enough information to get an intelligent answer. Actually, you might get plenty of intelligent answers, there is a good chance that they might not fit your actual need, though.
