I have naturally auburn hair. I wanted to dye it so it would be a shade brighter, because my natural color was fading. I let my mom pick a hair dye color (I know bad idea) and now my hair is purplish-red-brown-black. I want my natural color back really badly, school pictures are in two days! Please help me.

This is a permanent hair dye, and it's supposed to be dark auburn.

you can go to your local salon, expensive, or go to a shop where all they carry is beauty supplies and get a striping agent for fairly cheap

The hair dye obviously had purple in the base. Okay,I don't know if you plan on going to a salon to fix this or try to do it your self?????? If you go to a salon they will probably want to strip the color out, that can be very damaging to your hair and not only does that remove the dye, it takes out your natural color too and you will have orange hair, then they will redye it. Your other option is to let it fade out,you can help that along by using dish detergent or Prell shampoo and then a good conditoner. I don't know if it will fade enough in two days though. Is this a permanent hair dye or one that is suppose to come out in so many washes? I think you should go to a salon and have them take a look at it, don't put another color over it,you will make it worse. Good luck.

OK...going to a salon is an obvious answer. Ask if they have a semi-permenant color remover like Metalex. Someone else suggested Malibu and it is also a good idea. Using a highly alkaline shampoo (prell) will work but, it will take longer than 2 days and will be very drying to your hair. DO NOT let a stylist use a soap cap on you. A soap cap is a bleach product mixed with shampoo...completely wrong for the problem your having.
After this is all said and done, get a trim and a good deep conditioning and protien treatment. Your gonna need it.

Go 2 Sallys Beauty supply & get Metalex by Clairol & color remover (not stripper or bleach). Use Metalex 1st as directed & then the color remover. The Metalex helps 2 remove the color & protects the hair from damage from the color remover.

Go to a salon where they carry Schwartzkoph products (world wide) and get a color remover. It shrinks the color molecule so that it can just be washed out. It is a professional product so you can't buy it. And anyway you should stop doing your own hair. Anything else you try will be very damaging to your hair. I always say, if ou can do your hair yourself and it looks good--good for you! But if you screw it up, go to a pro. Fixing hair is not as easy as mucking it up...Good luck

go get it striped at a salon.
or u can go to the store and this wont be a quick fix but i know it works for people who have died there hair black. but go to the store and buy this regular dish soap thats called sunbeam and it come in a lemon flavor smell but with everywash u will see that the color fades. but again its not a quick fix it takes time the quickest thing u can do is go to a salon adn tell them to dye it back or strip it.

Go to a beauty supply store, like Sally's (if you have one near you) and get a hair dye removal. It works pretty well and is supposed to restore you hair to it's natural color.

Go to any hair salon (call around first) and ask for a "Malibu Treatment." It will remove color that has been recently applied.

You will need to go to a professional to get it fixed. If you try to put another color on it, it will only look worse.
