Yes I have but most of the time when it has happened I don't look my best cause I was just quickly running out for something and did not take the time to fix my hair or put make up on, so I really don't look or feel my best and just don't want to start a conversation.

A few times...there will always be some people who are not at all concerned with the fact that you might be on a schedule. But most of the time I just say "Oh, Hi...great to see you. I don't mean to be rude, but I'm in an aweful hurry. Let's catch up some other time". This takes only a few seconds of my time and it saves me the guilt...and I would be upset if they saw and realized I was avoiding them. But the key is to actually mean it, because saying something you don't really mean is no better than avoiding them, in my opinion...

Yes! When I go into Meijer I usually am there 3 hours, largely because there are so many people in there I know from my town. Sometimes you have to just smile, say hi and I'm sorry I can't stop, then walk right past. Other times you do have to avoid them because they won't be happy if you don't chat.

Yes, more often than I like to admit. And not just because I was in a hurry, but because I didn't have makeup on, my hair looked bad, I had on sloppy looking clothes, things like that. I guess I'm just too vain for my own good.

Not because I was in a hurry but because I was really not in the mood to talk to anyone at all.

Yeah I'm a little shy anyway and if I can avoid speaking to someone without meaning to be rude I will sometimes.

NO. Once I pretended I didn't see someone I know in a food court. He's about 15 yds away, eventually he saw me and I had to say hi.
