For engineering? Well, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is the *best* engineering college. I like the one I'm going to, personally; I'm at Umass amherst, and i like their engineering program.

It's really a matter of personal preference, though. Many universities have engineering programs, and there are a bunch that specialize in it. Just search for "engineering college" on the internet.

In terms of figuring out which one you want to go to, it's best to look at the curriculum, the living conditions, and to go visit it. If you're satisfied with all those things, then maybe you should go.

The best way I found to choose a university was to make a list of criteria that had to be met and weed out the choices from there. This strategy works in a lot of other decision-making situations as well. For example, you could do something like:

College Criteria:
1) less than $10,000 per year tuition
2) within 300 miles from home
3) has electrical engineering dept. ranked within top 100 in nation
4) has a nationally-recognizable name that helps in landing a job interview
5) less than 30,000 student population
6) good recreation facilities and active campus life
7) etc..............

First weed out the colleges by criteria you can find out before visiting (like tuition costs). Then visit the remaining list and gauge your impression of the other criteria (like quality of classrooms or facilities). By then you should have a pretty small list to make your final decision. Good luck.

Oh, and there is a marching band in Ohio that far exceeds any other. The Best Damned Band In The Land (TBDBITL) resides at The Ohio State University (Columbus, OH). But then again, choosing a university based solely on the quality of their marching band is kind of silly, unless you are an exceptionally hardcore marching band member and wish to join.

There is no perfect college to go to. It depends on what you want to study and where you want to go. You'll also want to consider what you can afford. If you don't have anything set in your mind yet, maybe you should look up those 'best college lists' and just pick one that sounds good. They have those lists all the time in magazines and online.

Figure out what you may be interested in, and go visit schools. Visit a bunch, and go with the ones that seem to "feel right." I know that sounds dumb, but you'll know what school is best for you.

For what? What curriculum are you interested in? It depends on that. Any college can be good at "something", but you need to be more specific!

One that doesn't cost a fortune. Or one that will pay your tuition, if you're SAT savvy.
