My husband and I used to have a drink everynow and then until one night we left some leftover Pina Colada in the kitchen and our daughter at the time 2 years old drank it. It was the last time alcohol was allowed in our home. Now they are older and they watch everything we do. I can imagine what they would think if we tell them, no alcohol, no tobacco, no drugs. .. and they see us drinking.. For their sake.. we abstain!!

My brother had the same problem and never cared, (now he is in jail because of another dui) and I know for a fact this was more than disturbing to my small nieces, I think it's really stupid to do that, especially if they are very small children and you may be a single father, which was my brother's case, the girls would be hurt and I could see the sadness in their 2 innocent faces.
Can't you stop this behavior, or perhaps do it much less and not infront of them? If you are with family, it still doesn't make it okay, think about the example you are setting for them and the message you are sending them and at the same time what you are promoting, can't you think about their future and how this may create an impact on them, my father was a drinker and it was bad, I left him when I was 15 yrs old, because I couldn't stand seeing him under the influence, it hurt too much and would bring about other negative things, lots of arguments with his wife, and carelessness, negligence as a father, he did not give us much attention because he was always at some social gathering or "business meeting" And, both my grandfathers died from it, (I don't drink, because of this) so think about it, would you like for your children to become alcoholics? And be under the stuppor and not have a good record, if they got a dui, and most of all not have a good future when they could? I would, I hope you do too!!

Why would you want your kids to see you drunk? What kind of message are you sending to them? I think a drink or two is ok, but why get drunk? all your telling them is that's it ok to get drunk and act "different". i think you should be teaching your kid responsible drinking habits if your going to teach them that habit at all.

No. You are the adult and what "normality" are you setting for your children if they see you drinking. They will think that it's ok and probally start at a younger age.
