I work in a major supermarket in the Miami area, and I'm always annoyed when someone insists on grabbing one of the carts I just spent 10 minutes outside in the hot sun collecting, when there are at least 25 others sitting in front of them that they can choose from. They even stop you when you're halfway through the door, struggling to push them uphill, while your sweating your butt off in the heat, trying desperately to get inside where it's cool. Why do they do it? Are they on some sort of power trip or something? Also, why do they insist on carryout service during an electrical storm? Don't they realize that people have gotten killed pushing metal shopping carts outside in the lightning? In fact, a lady in Opa-Locka was struck by lightning just the other day, while holding an umbrella and trying to go through the front door of her house! Don't people watch the news on T.V.? Do they even care?

You must realize by now that people are stupid. Even the most intelligent are stupid. When they leave their homes they instantly lose whatever intelligence they have. I worked in so many customer service jobs and its incredible how people can be so damn ignorant to people who work at department stores, grocery stores, etc etc. Just because they are the customer they have the right to treat us like crap. Its the way the world works and I hate it all.

If I were your employer, and I read this, you would have to find a new job! You have to do it because it is your job! Many people need assistance getting their carts or items to their cars. You are the dummy who doesn't suggest waiting for them at the curb and loading for them if it is a lightning storm! Take a little initiative! Perhaps you prefer having something to whine about. Also, most people like to take the ones you are already pushing because they feel sorry for you, and hope it will lighten your load and they are walking in the same direction. I suggest you get a good education, so you can just "hide" in an office somewhere and not have to be offended by the lowly customers! Get a grip!

Boy these Yahoo answerers are ripping you a new one! I agree with you, some people are nitwits. I think they are on some kind of power trip, let me mess with the cart kid. I'm surprised your boss will let you carry out food during an electrical storm. Aren't they liable if you get killed? That is crazy, especially in Florida where the lighting is so intense.

Maybe they think they're helping you out by taking a cart from you, so you don't have to push it.
Are the people who are requesting carry outs elderly or otherwise impaired? Do they have kids or tons of groceries? I have never accepted help to my car, but I always appreciate being asked. Maybe they're lonely and want company. I don't think they realize you could get killed in a lightening storm. Maybe offer to wait with their cart while they go get their car, and then help load the stuff in the car at curbside. Better for all concerned.

The reason I want the one from the cart guy is because I can't get the d@mn things unglued from their partners, especially since I'm weak and have arthritis.
So give me that d@mn cart sonny!
& Find a new job... how degrading!
I'm sure you could find something a lot more interesting.

You know i run a retail store and i often wonder about my employees who stand around complaining about how hard they are working and how awful the customers are. and then i remind them i am paying them to be here and that if they want to leave they can, and i will find someone else.
I would think before i start to complain about my job being dagerous if i were you. Think about the men and women in iraq risking there lives daily to protect your rights! One of those rights is your right to complain about your "dangerous" job as a cart collecter...

Just in regards to your getting hit by lightening in a thunder storm with the trolley.. I think people know this and that is why they get YOU to push the trolley, that way if anything happens they are fine!
But seriously.. People are rude and dont think about the work your putting into something!
