You are heavier than 90% of the kids your age and height. That means that unless you are very athletic and have a muscular build, you are probably carrying too much fat.

I'm guessing you don't exercise much, or you haven't in a while. That means that your body has very little muscle, which means that any excess weight you have is fat. Muscle burns calories 24 hours a day, so exercise will really help tighten and tone your whole body.

Start slow, work up to exercising 4-5 times a week, for 30 minutes. Walking, biking, swimming are all great, and cheap! If you aren’t active to start out, then that will start building some muscle.

Keep a food diary. When you start, don't worry about counting fat or calories, just notice how much and what you are eating. Start learning what foods are good and bad. Just seeing it written down can be a surprise - you don't always notice how much you really eat when you eat it, but you sure notice every extra pound when you look in the mirror. Watching what you eat helps you stay focused and eat healthier.

Yes, that probably is too much weight. Don't get hung up on the Body Mass Index scales the press is talking about so much these days though. They are simply a new way of expressing the old airline employee weight charts. No one who lifts weights, or plays league football will fall into the charted weight & height because muscle weighs more than fat. The charts really only fit a skinny, non-exercising body type. Here's a test to try: get in a swimming pool as deep as you are tall approx. and exhale all your breath while pulling up your legs. You should sink to the bottom in about ten seconds; kick off the pool bottom and get a fresh breath. Iff you are fat you will not be able to sink; you might float with your shoulders out of water, or your rounder part.
Walking and swimming are good exercises.

What's your cup size? If you're an A cup and 143, then yes, that's heavy. Ideally, you'll settle to about a C cup @ 5'4" at somewhere between 115-130 depending on your build.

I guess, in a less than PC sort of way, I'm saying that yes, you're a little heavy... but probably not by much.

Just remember that your body is changing A LOT right now, so how your body looks now will probably not be the way it will be forever. Focus on living a healthy lifestyle, make wise eating decisions, and try to stay active and exercise at least a few days a week. You proabably want to be careful not to gain much more weight, but you are by no means overweight or grossly unhealthy. At 13, you're still growing, so who knows, you may have hit your weight growth spurt before you height growth spurt!

No, that is not fat! Especially if you are already 5ft 4 at age 13. If you are worried about possibly adding some extra pounds, make sure you stay active and eat healthy. Excersice and drink plenty of water and fruits and vegetables. If you stay healthy during your teen years it will make your adult years MUCH more enjoyable. For even more better health make sure to have regular Dr. exams.

Also try finding some web sites that do your totall body mass index. They'll ask things like your age, hieght, and current wieght and it will tell you what your "normal" wieght should be. But it sounds to me you are VERY healthy and it doesn't sound like you should worry at all about your wieght.

Your BMI is 24.5, which is still within the healthy BMI range, however for your age, it is considered 'at risk of becoming overweight,' so I would suggest that you try to cut down on unhealthy foods, eat more fruit and vegetables, less bad carbs and more lean meat. Also get as much exercise as possible and keep yourself in shape. HTH : )

Well, on a typical person it does sound heavy but it depends on your body size, alot of it could actually muscle and not fat. so you're better off consulting a BMI Index calculator, that will tell you the range that you're in. Good luck!
