Some of the cheapest foods are beans, rice, and oats. they are also some of the healthiest things you can eat. Cook up a pot of pinto beans with onion, a little garlic salt and a little BBq sauce for flavor, make some jiffy cornbread, feed a whole family for less than a buck. Beans are full of fiber, protein, B vitamins, and very good for a healthy heart. When beans are combined with either corn or rice, the amino acids found in both form a complete protein, no meat necessary.
Oats are also a good source of protein and B vitamins, as well as keeping the cholesterol down and full of fiber.
Potatoes and carrots are not very expensive, make a stew with a small package of inexpensive beef chunks. Even the cheapest, toughest cuts of meat get tender when stewed. Learn to make homemade biscuits. You can feed an entire family of 5 on $20 a week if you know how to cook cheap natural foods, simple homemade food.
Eating natural foods is not only healthier, it's a whole lot cheaper than packaged or frozen or fast foods.

Yes of course! Folks like Weight Watchers and other diets would like for you to only buy their food. But if you eat your five vegetables and fruits a day and stay away from fast food, you'll be eating a whole lot healthier without the expenses. Rice and beans are great too. Lots of water helps too.

Absolutely. A lot of people say that eating healthy is more expensive than eating poorly, but I don't agree. There is more time and effort involved in eating healthy, but if you take the time to learn how to prepare food it can be economical.
Buy fresh fruit and vegetables that are in season.
Watch for specials on meat.
Buy whole grains dry and in bulk.

Of course. It is more difficult but it can be done. Beans and lentils are cheap, filling and loaded with protein and vitamins. Eggs are very cheap protein. Go to orchards. They sell second quality fruit for much less than first quality and there is nothing wrong with it except cosmetic flaws. The secret is not to buy any prepared foods. They are too expensive.
