I don't hate you. I don't even hate the non-legal people. Honestly.

I can honestly say that I don't hate either you or your illegal counterparts. However, I would vociferously defend your right to be here, and tell the illegals to don't let the door hit them in the butt on their way out.
BTW, my best friend for years in High School was Latino, we now live across the country from each other, which was the only reason we quit communicating.
Frankly, I'm offended that you, as a legal citizen, would think that it's prejudice that is behind the whole illegal immigration question. I'm sure there are some voices out there that are speaking against this that are pushing a prejudicial agenda, but I would submit to you that anyone of that ilk was probably racially motivated before this debate moved to the forefront.
I can assure you I am not one of those folks, quite the opposite, I cite Genesis Chapter 11 as proof that there really aren't "races" to begin with...we are all one human race. I do not hate you. I do not hate those who would attempt to come into this country illegally. But since the operative word here is, after all, "illegal", I'm absolutely stunned that there is any debate at all.

So you're checking to see if there are racists and bigots out here willing to get into it with you. If there are and if they comment what does that prove to you? If you are interested in opinions about Hispanic citizens then perhaps you could restate your question. I have to admit that I do really dislike hearing the Spanish language everywhere I go. It makes me feel like I'm in a foreign country. I object to going into a business of any kind and not being able to understand the employees. I really get annoyed when employees for the government can bearly speak English. I also object to the word "bilingual" being used to mean able to speak English and Spanish since the real meaning is fluency in two languages. I think employers who advertise jobs stating that you must be bilingual or bilingual preferred should be charged with discrimination. I oppose flying the Mexican flag or any other flag other than ours in the US except where an international display of flags is appropriate. I am vehemently opposed to hiring illegals from any country, providing welfare to illegals, giving citizenship to babies born here if their parents are not under US jurisdiction legally, and providing any type of services to illegals.

No, I only have a problem with illegals and I know many legal Hispanic people that are annoyed with illegals too because of all the stuff they do reflects bad on them though they have nothing to do with it.
People are scared that are borders are way too open and there are way too many illegals. Most of us are also annoyed that illegals do not learn English too.
But before the whole illegal issue really took off I had plenty of friends who were Puerto Rican in NY and no one was prejudice against them.

I don't hate Latinos, I don't hate you for being a citizen and Latino, and I don't hate immigrants. I will admit I wish they came to this country legally. But why does America act like they don't take advantage of them now they are here. So to answer your question, no I am not an ignorant American who shouts "Go back to where you came from"

My answer depends on this: Do you love the United States? I'm not talking about the current government and the stupid and completely impractical policies they enforce. I'm not talking about the complete lack of ability of anyone but the rich to get a higher education. I'm not talking about the fact that, to get a good job, minority groups and poor white people have to sometimes accept lower wages than they can live off of. I'm talking about the basic fundamental rights that this country was based on. If you love and attempt to follow those basic rights and laws that this country is supposed to be about, then I think you have every right to pay taxes in this country. I cannot hate someone for being in the US if they really want to be here.
On the other hand, if you have a Mexican flag in, on, around or near your vehicle or home; constantly wear anarchistic logos; or, in general, think America sucks...then I think you should get the hell out. I don't want someone in America if their only reason for being here is to take jobs away from people who actually want to be here.

No. You are an American Citizen. What if 12 million Haitians suddenly jumped across the border?? Would that bother you?? How about 12 million Russians or 12 million Norwegians??
Is there anger directed at Latinos?? The honest answer is yes. I can go in at least three McDonald's here in Tulsa and be a minority and hear nothing spoken but Spanish. Does that bother me. Oh yeah it does. I don't want to live in a country that speaks Spanish. And apparently neither do you.

Since you're here legally, I would welcome you with open arms and call you Brother. If you were to come illegally, I would have no problem, as long as the reason and intent of your violation of American laws is for a just cause. I would also have to know that you are working for a living. The only people that annoy me (i don not hate ANYONE) are those that feel they are entitled to get something for nothing, Immigrant or natural citizen. I say Welcomr to the country. Enjoy and may you find your dreams in life.

Of course they don't hate you. If they saw you on the street, don't be surprised if you get discriminated against. This immigration debate is raising issues such as discrimination against all Mexicans, including Mexican-Americans such as myself. It has quickly turned into a race issue. Of course they won't say "hey I'm a racist"
Not to say that all non-hispanic Americans feel this way. Many non-hispanic Americans respect people of different cultures, and I admire people that can appreciate others that are different from themselves.

People who are in the United States legally and can prove such should be allowed to stay.
People who are in the United States illegally [they cannot prove their United States citizenship nor produce a valid visa] should be deported immediately to their country of origin.
There is no need to hate legal or illegal immigrants.
There is a need to make illegal immigrants go through the legal process.

I do not hate people based on religion, sexual preference, race or nationality. I only hate people based on if they are jerks or not. So if you are legal, then I don't care. Welcome.
I really think that you are rather generalizing to think that anyone against illegal immigration is automaticly a racist. I was not raised that way, and I will not start doing such things.
