I am no longer using my magickal tools (athame, besom, bell, pentacle, herbs/oils), and was wondering how to dispose of them properly. ie: In a way to not disrupt my energies on them.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you could be persuaded to keep them......

Imagine if you had a daughter or a grandaughter (who showed interest in the wiccan ways) and you were to bring those items out and share your knowledge with her when she grew old enough. Not only could you pass down what you have learnt but also pass on a legacy which would then belong to your family.

Wrap the items in silk, satin, or velvet.
If you wish to cleanse the items of your energies then bath them in salt water under a full moon (as a general cleansing spell will instruct you to do) before you wrap them.
Store them somewhere safe so later in your life you can share the joy you experienced through your pagan journey.

Well, it depends on your take on the matter. If you want to get rid of them but keep your energies in place, I'd say bury the tools and scatter the herbs, ashes, etc. The earth will absorb your energies and the goods will eventually decay, rust, whatever. Toss the salt and any poisonous minerals tho. No reason to put salt where something might grow.

On the other hand, you can also cleanse your energies off and pass the goods to someone who will use them. If you're leaving the path, you probably know folks who would be glad to have tools from a friend.

Some of my tools have found their way to a new home when they have served their purpose with me. I give them away--I do not accept money for them. I say goodbye and ground the energy in them. Last year I donated most of my library (250 books) to a local coven--it feels good that others will get to benefit from things that I no longer use. Perhaps there is someone in your community who would want your tools (after you have grounded and cleansed them).

For other things, if I can safely return tools back into the environment, I do. I use the same concepts as I do for my offerings. If I associate the item with air, I burn it. If I associate it with the earth, I bury it. If I associate it with water, I return it to a body of water. (My tradition doesn't see fire as an element).

I don't think there is one "right" way to do it--just thought I'd pass along some ideas.

I've always purified them and cleansed them of all my energies and then offered them up for donation in case anyone else needs them. The Neopagan coven I'm in has a trade list for the South Georgia area for stuff like that, sort of a Pagan/Witch Freecycle.

If you're not comfortable doing that, I've always heard it's a good idea to burn the stuff that can be burned and bury the rest. But really I always have preferred recycling them.

This isn't written anywhere, but this is what i would do...

Perform a transferrence ritual of somekind to remove the energies from them, then bury them somewhere special.. under a favourite oak or elm... choose a magickal tree of some kind. You could also bind them before you bury them just to make sure.

Hope this helps.

I concur with the need to bury them.

Thank "them" for their services in aiding your intentions and bury them deep - at least a foot below the earth. An attempt should be made to reclaim any energy you imparted to them, but is only of great importance should you feel they may be found by someone who knows you.

A full moon is not necessary, lol.

Wishing you wisdom and good judgment.

Ideally, metals and waxes should be melted into ingots, ceramics and glass should be shattered and disposed of (SAFELY!), and anything biodegradable should be buried.

However, you may also find some value in the idea of purifying the items and taking them to a pagan supply store and offering them for resale.

Wash anything that can still be useful to someone, if it can be washed. Wear gloves. Say with each one, "I sever my connection to this item."

You can give them away, sell them, burn them, whatever.

I'm a bit curious as to why you don't need them, but I'm sure you have your reasons. I've wanted to dispose of tools for various reasons, too.

Cleans them in salt water and then dispose of them in a way that you feel honors what they have meant to you.

First I would ground myself and then give thanks for the uses of the tools... if you wish to give it away you need to clean then of your energy, if not burn what can be burned and take the ashes and bury them.. you should giev back to the earth what it has give to you.. but mostly clean it of your energys. try looking on google for some good cleaning spells to help.
